The presentation started with an introduction to the history of the EU and the single market. The reasons for the ‘leave’ and ‘remain’ votes in the June 2016 referendum were explored before the possible short-term and long-term implications for businesses and consumers were considered.

As well as these, the key differences between a ‘soft’ and a ‘hard’ Brexit were highlighted. Questions from the audience focused on the potential impact of Brexit on the daily lives of citizens including that of a ‘no-deal’ scenario.
