Mrs Dulashitha (Tulasi) Suthantirakumar

Biology

BSc Honours (Queen Mary College London), MEd (Brunel University), PGCE (Brunel University)

Mrs Suthantirakumar joined Cambridge Tutors College as a tutor in the Biology Department. She came to us after teaching at GNS College in Hillingdon where she also taught Biology. Mrs Suthantirakumar is actually a former CTC London student who returned to take the position of her former biology teacher as she was retiring.

Following her time at CTC London, Mrs Suthantirakumar attended Queen Mary University, London, where she studied Genetics. She graduated her BSc, with Honours, and began a role as a Research Assistant in the Identification of early on-set of Diabetes at St. Mary’s Hospital, London.

Following this role, Mrs Suthantirakumar took her first teaching role at the GNS Academy in Middlesex, where she taught KS3-KS5 and GNVQ Biology. Once an established teacher she then took on the responsibility of not only her teaching but also the Management and Co-ordination of Biology through all key stages as well as whole GNVQ Science Department.

While at GNS Academy, Mrs Suthantirakumar also studied part time to obtain her teaching qualifications. She completed her PGCE from Brunel University, London and continued at GNS until she moved across to CTC and began working on her MEd.

Mrs Suthantirakumar’s move to CTC London allowed her to work on her MEd at Brunel University part-time while teaching in the Biology Department. She made an instant impact to the department bringing her knowledge and understanding from her previous institution to CTC London to enhance school resources and methods across the department. She also used CTC London as a base for her Thesis titled “A Strategy to identify the gifted and talented students at CTC Biology Department”. The Thesis presents a researched strategy to identify Gifted and Talented Students here at Cambridge Tutors College, which Mrs Suthantirakumar continues to run. The paper can be found at the Brunel University Teaching Library.

Outside of CTC London, Mrs Suthantirakumar is a trained Indian Classical dancer. She has spent over 20 years training in Bharatanatyam and has given performances locally in Fairfield Halls, Croydon! She is also a Radio presenter for Sunrise Radio & Spectrum Radio in her mother tongue Tamil, as well now presenting the very famous Kannakkuyil Singing Competition!

“Students at CTC London are so dedicated to succeed and are a pleasure to teach because of this. The teaching staff here are wonderful and really connect with the students enabling them to truly reach their potential.”
