Due to the consistently high grades achieved at A level, CTC students have an excellent record in securing places at the top universities in the UK. 75% of students gained entry to their firm choice of University in summer 2022 and 60% of students were successful in their application to Russell Group Universities in 2022 and will be starting their degree courses at Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, LSE and UCL, amongst other very prestigious institutions.
The students are fully supported throughout the whole university application process, receiving expert advice and guidance at every stage of the UCAS procedure. This advice and support is invaluable and helped ensure our students secured their first choice university in 2022.
A series of weekly lunchtime lectures are given by CTC staff and outside speakers. These cover topics such as Choosing a University Course, the UCAS Personal Statement, Interviews and Admission Tests. Representatives from the leading universities also give talks about applying to their institutions and particular course subjects. Specific lectures are arranged for Oxbridge applicants and those wishing to apply for Law or Medicine courses. In June, a University Preparation Day is held which allows the students the opportunity to talk to representatives of a number of universities and former CTC students who have successfully negotiated the UCAS process.
The college has a dedicated UCAS Applications Officer who along with their personal tutor and Vice Principal is able to assist the students with their Personal Statements. Mock interviews are also carried out to fully prepare the students and perfect their interview technique. Students are constantly informed about university open days and encouraged to visit Higher Education Fairs to help them choose their university and degree course.
CTC students have access to a wide range of resources, both on-line and in the careers section of the college library, helping them to make informed choices about their future. This comprehensive programme of university guidance clearly contributes to the successful transition to highly competitive courses at celebrated universities for the vast majority of CTC students.
